Spiritual Activities

Hekima College is founded on the Ignatian Spirituality. The College endeavors to promote Ignatian pedagogy, the Spiritual Exercises and personal spiritual growth for the members, both staff and students. As far as possible, the College will make available, opportunities for making or giving the spiritual exercises. The purpose of creating these spiritual guidance opportunities is to build on campus a living and witnessing Christian Community. Hekima University College will endeavor to provide conducive environment for dynamic celebration of the Sacraments. Oppor­tunities are offered for those who need to prepare for and receive sacraments.

The students may choose spiritual directors from the permanent staff of the College or they can get their directors from the priests, religious and lay people out of the college. This enables them deepen their love for God, and appreciation of the mission that the Lord has entrusted to them. Confidentiality is highly regarded in Hekima University College. All personal matters discussed are treated confidentially. This applies to matters that arise from the context of spiritual direction or celebrating the sacraments.

Retreats and Days of Recollection

  1. Retreats and Days of Recollection: Periodical retreats/recollections are conducted in the course of the academic year. Students may inquire about this to be directed accordingly. They may also make a request which will be attended to as far as possible.
  2. Catechesis: Adult Faith Formation Sessions (The Catechism) may be arranged on request.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is cel­ebrated whenever requested.

Eucharistic Celebration

The Liturgical seasons of the year and celebrations of Advent, Lent and Holy Week are highlighted to foster the spiritual growth and maturity of Christian Life. Students are greatly encouraged to participate actively in these liturgical celebrations. Choir is a serious group who contribute greatly to the liturgical celebrations through promoting sacred music. Those who are willing are encouraged to join. The Eucharist is normally celebrated in the College Chapel.

  • On weekdays at: 7:00 a.m. and 6:15 P.M.
  • On Saturday at: 7:00 a.m. and 12:30 P.M.

College Mass

On Wednesday at noon there is College Mass and there are no classes. This brings the whole Hekima Community together. This is followed by sharing lunch together.
